Dining at the Bishopdale Estate
Local and fresh ingredients are central to the fine dishes served in our dining room.
Chef Mary and her team will only accept the best and this can often mean foraging for produce in our own rural back garden – the beautiful Nelson countryside. From wild watercress, to greenshell mussels, to crayfish and the coveted NZ whitebait, every effort is made to ensure your experience at The Bishop’s Suites is second to none.
Our “what’s in season” approach is an excellent way to sample the abundance of produce grown locally and organically. Our five course dinner is designed to tantalise your taste buds and start your gastronomic affair with Nelson, the food basket of New Zealand.
If “a day without wine is like a day without sunshine” in Nelson we have sunshine in abundance – more than almost anywhere else in the country. And because of this, we have some of the best vineyards in New Zealand on our doorstep. Just 30 minutes away is Neudorf Vineyards – voted top NZ winery by the UK Wine Report in 2009. Over the hill we have the sprawling vineyards of Marlborough, world famous for wonderful Sauvignon Blanc.
At The Bishopdale Estate we also produce our own wines, – a beautiful Pinot Noir and a Chardonnay made from grapes grown on the Estate. These unique wines are called “The Bishop’s Choice”
